Eagle Creek Continental Journey: Could this be a carry on?
Pack list draft
This is an all comprehensive list that is supposed to include everything we could think of brining (within some kind of reason). Here it is, if you'd like to take a look. Please suggest things that should be added (we're reasonably sure what should be taken off). I think the stars refer to stuff we don't have/own.

We are currently having packing troubles. We did a trial pack and everything seemed to fit fairly comfortably in my one backpack. The thought of only traveling around with one main piece of luggage worries me, but at the same time, i don't want to have two giant backpacks if we don't need them.
I think the sleeping bag idea is out. Just too heavy.

Money
I'm thinking we're going to bring CC to use when we can, but not to get cash. I understand that regular debit cards can pretty much be used for that, and without the cash advance premium. Should we just stock up in the airport? I guess you can only get like €300 at a time, which is okay.
And moneybelts... Good or lame?
DEAR VISITORS: Please leave any general comments about traveling in Switzerland. Thanks!
DEAR VISITORS: Please leave any general comments about traveling in England, keeping in mind we will only have a three or four day stop over on our way home, so we will mostly be in the London area. Thanks!
Bedding
Everything we read seems to recommend (and apparently most hostels insist on) sleep sheets. Just a full sheet folded in half with the bottom and side stitched up?
What about sleeping bags? (Bulky)
What about pillows? (Also bulky)
It just occurred to me that one of the major trials for me is going to be all the pooping.
It doesn't help that i already prefer my own (or a very familiar) throne on which to deliver the goods, but aside from that, i also have to deal with The Blender, who frequently has his own ideas as to the relative urgency with which i must conduct business. Here, i can generally steer clear of foods which will wreak havoc on my innards, but in Europe, not being terribly familiar with the cuisine or methods of preparation, all bets are off.
My bowels are churning threateningly just thinking about it.

Food
Hmmm... How are we to eat? I mean, is most eating done at restaurants, or is it a fairly simple matter to buy some food at a... food shop... and prepare it at the hostel?
DEAR VISITORS: Please leave comments about anything it doesn't seem like we have a category for here. Thanks!
How do we go about picking a hostel? Is it better to book them in advance, or just show up? How far in advance?
Getting away from the airport
Okay, so we land in Paris, at CDG. Then what? How do we get from there to where ever we might be going? (We land at 6:20pm). (And on that note, see this post.)
DEAR VISITORS: Leave any general comments about trains, airplanes, buses, taxis, or any other information pertaining to getting around in the comments to this post. Thanks!
DEAR VISITORS: Leave any general comments about hostels, hotels, B&Bs, campsites, etc. --either tips for finding or staying at one or examples of good ones you happen to know of. Thanks!

Purchase Eurail tickets. We think we're going to go for the Eurail Selectpass Saver. Travel within 5 adjoining countries (Franch, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy), 15 travel days within 2 months. Seems like the way to go.
